Why is the week badge not displayed after upgrading to iOS 5?

Even if the week badge is switched on in the App's settings it might not be displayed.

iOS 5 has introduced new settings to restrict the notifications all installed apps can display.

To insure that the badge can be displayed, open the Settings.App navigate to 'Notifications'.

Find 'WeekOtY' in the list, check if 'Badges' are enabled.

Only if 'Badges' are enabled here, a possible badge will be displayed by iOS.

If you can't find 'WeekOtY' in the list, or if 'Badges' are enabled in the list, but WeekOtY still doesn't display its badge, try the following:

Open WeekOtY and toogle the apps' badge setting off, wait some ticks and turn it on again.

This will let the app renew it's state in iOS' notification system.

I've released a new version of WeekOtY+.

Now you can display the current week on the home screen as badge on the icon.

For special usages, it's also possible to let the first weekday be any day of the week.

I'll be updating the free edition in the coming days, so these features will be available there soon, too.

I've released a new version of PriceOfUnit as well as a free edition of the same app.
The app has an improved user interface as you can see from the screen shots below.
The paid edition is ad free and support's your device in landscape orientation.

Here's an overview over the apps' buttons, the grid's columns and some examples for entering calculations.

The number pad

The number pad is used to enter numbers into the selected cell of the grid.

The next button

Use the next button to skip between cells of the grid. You can tap a cell to switch the focus too.

The back button

Use the back button to erase the last digit you entered.

The clear button

Use the clear button to clear the value of the current cell.

The reset button

Use the reset button to reset the grid to it's default values.

The mail button

Use the mail button to send the values in the grid as e-mail.

The help button

Use the help button to display short instructions and navigate to the PriceOfUnit support web page.

The columns of the grid

#	the row number
a1	how many times (amount) the price was paid
price	the price of something
-%	possible rebate that will be deducted from price
a2	items received for money paid (a1price)(1-(%/100))
unit	size of the unit
p/u	price of one unit (with size=1)

Examples

pay 1$ and get 1 item with size 1

pay 2 times 1$ and get 2 items with size 1

pay 2$ and get 2 items with size 1

pay 1$ and get 2 items with size 1 = one for free

original price 1$ with 20% rebatt and get 1 item with size 1 = pay 0.80 $

pay 1$ and get 1 item with size 0.5 = an item with size 1 would cost 2$

Ever since I released WeekOtY I'm receiving requests if it's possible to update the icon on the home screen with the currenty week just like the built in calendar. Sorry folks, that's not possible, what I could do, is add a number badge to the icon, but again what definitely isn't possible, is to keep that up to date. Why that? Because keeping up to date would require the application to be invoked without your interaction, which is against the iPhone's philosophy.

Standing in my local grocery store comparing the prices of equivalent products, I found was to cumbersome with the built-in calculator, so I wrote this simple app.

Using my app you can compare up to four different prices on a single page.
You can compare "x for the price of y" bargains, products packed in different sizes and prices with additional discounts.
Numbers are entered with a calculator style interface.

Additionally the calculation can be sent with mail.

WeekOtY 1.1

New Feature in this release: Choose alternative first day of the week (Sunday/Monday) and the required days for the first week of the year. In the last version you had to change the iPhones regional settings to accomplish a different week calculation.

For Example:

US-Settings: Sunday, 1 day

European-Settings: Monday, 4 days

This version also fixes a bug: If the first week of a new year begins during the last days of the old year, the wrong year may be displayed in the first tab.

Es wird auch der erste und letzte Tag der Woche angezeigt.
Die Berechnung der Kalenderwoche erfolgt anhand des Kalenders Ihres Gerätes.
Die Berechnung ist daher vom eingestellten Gebietsschema abhängig.

Wechseln Sie auf einen anderen Reiter und verwenden Sie die Auswahl um Start und Ende-Tag einer anderen Woche oder
um die Kalenderwoche zu einem anderen Datum zu finden.

WeekOtY.App - Week of the Year

Use this app to display the current week of the year on your iPhone or iPod touch.

The display also shows the first and last days of the week.

This app uses your devices' calendar settings.

Week counting and first/last days of the week depend on your devices localization.

Switch to the apps' other tabs and use a picker to find the starting an ending day's for an other week

or find the week for a specific date.
